drag racing?

i have just started drag racing and im am a bit confused what is the perfecr revs to take off at.i have a 5 speed ford ranger whitch red lines a 5000 rpm.what should i rev up to to get the fastest takeoff but wont hurt my engine?i have been taking off around 3000 rpms
yah this is buy no means a stock car.
i have biger new breaks calipers and rotars (forgot the brand).performance high flow cat back system with flowmaster 40 series muffler.hooker headers, performance race shocks,performance tires,injectors, .5 cams, ram air /cold air intake, chiped,4.0 engine, ect.
by no means is this truck stock
it will pop a wheelie about 6in off the ground if i get a good start
also it is a stick(if anyone didnt get it buy me saying 5 speed)

I think your can handle 3000 for a while but your clutch will probably fry a lot sooner unless you upgraded.

well the car part is really up to you as an individual. I have seen imports, european cars, exotic cars, and muscle cars. So that will have to be left up to you. If i was just starting out in drag racing, i would choice a 98 or newer trans am or camaro. I would pick one of these two cars, because the are very powerful without any modifications, alot of aftermarket parts are available for them, and they are affordable and can be found fairly easy. Most drag racing strips have a certain night or two where they open up the track to individuals for pleasure, my track calls them test setions. They usually charge you a flat fee of 20-30 dollars and you can stay as long as you would like. Just contact your local drag strip and ask. It is a great sport and hobby to be associated with and i have met several life long friends since i began racing. I currently drive a 94 twin turbo 300zx which does a 13.2 at 109 mph. Even though i own an import, i would trade it any day for a trans am or camaro
